Following 2004´s training workshops for Iraqi national security officials (conducted in the U.S.) and for community leaders/civic activists (conducted in Baghdad and Sulaymaniyah), our priority for 2005 was to bring the two participant audiences together, and transfer the capability to conduct the sophisticated computer-based Strategic Economic Needs and Security Exercise (SENSE) simulation to an Iraqi partner organization.

International Conflict Management Seminar for Senior Latin American and Caribbean Military Officials

In conjunction with the Organization of the American States, the Institute conducted a one-week workshop for over eighty senior Latin American and Caribbean military officials along with special invited guests from the resident military missions for the Inter American Defense College at Fort McNair, Washington DC.

Conflict Resolution Workshop in Khartoum, Sudan

The Institute conducted its second conflict resolution training workshop for Sudanese participants April 12-14, 2005, in Khartoum, Sudan. Jacki Wilson of the Professional Training Program was augmented by former Institute Training Program Officer Greg Noone for this workshop, which was conducted in partnership with the Sudan Inter-Religious Council (SIRC).

Conflict Resolution Workshop for Southern Sudanese

The Institute´s first Sudan training workshop was held in Entebbe, Uganda, from March 30-April 1, 2005, for southern Sudanese participants. Training Program officer Jacki Wilson was augmented by former Institute Education staff member Alan Tidwell for the workshop, which was conducted in partnership with the Resource Center for Civil Leadership (RECONCILE).
