Learning Lessons from "Small" Conflicts: Australian and New Zealand Experiences in Peacemaking and Peacekeeping
In the post-cold war era both Australia and New Zealand have gained important experiences in peacemaking and peacekeeping. Many know about Australia's leadership in peacekeeping in East Timor, but less well known are experiences gained in Bougainville and the Solomon Islands. USIP and Georgetown University's Center for Australian and New Zealand Studies co-hosted this session where panelists discussed key lessons that can be learned from managing these "small" regional conflicts.
