Professional Development Seminar for International Peacekeepers

 Senior Program Officers Keith Bowen and Nina Sughrue held a seminar at the Defense Institute of International Legal Studies (DIILS) in Newport, Rhode Island for thirty-six civilian and military peacekeepers from twenty-four countries. Professional Training Workshops in Conflict Management and Negotiation Skills in the Philippines

 Building on their six training workshops with Armed Forces of the Philippines officers earlier this year, USIP trainers Ted Feifer and Jacki Wilson just completed two workshops in conflict management and negotiation skills for multi-sector participants from the conflict areas of Mindanao and Sulu. The workshops were conducted with Gene Martin of USIP’s Philippines Facilitation Project.

Conflict Resolution Training and Facilitated Problem Solving (Nuba Mountains)

Institute trainers Keith Bowen and Jacki Wilson arrived in the central Sudanese town of Dilling, at the foot of the Nuba Mountains, mere days after a series of revenge killings had left more than a dozen of its inhabitants dead. Working with the Badya Center for Integrated Development Services, an indigenous NGO, their mission was to train local leaders in conflict resolution skills, as well as to facilitate local problem solving.
