(Washington) – The U.S. Institute of Peace ranks as the number two government-affiliated think tank in the world, according to the 2013 Global Go To Think Tank Index, set for official release this week. USIP also earned distinctions on the Index’s lists for best U.S. think tanks, global think tanks on defense and national security, and for best conferences.

Examining how security sector reform contributes to sustainable peace, this year's state level winners represent 46 states, the District of Columbia, and the categories for American territories and Americans living abroad. They each will receive a $1,000 academic scholarship.
