Haiti's Future
Following the February 7 elections, Haiti will reach a crossroads. The path its new leaders select will determine its future. Repeatedly, Haiti has defied foreign attempts to impose solutions to its myriad problems. Only Haitians are capable of finding sustainable solutions.
The question is whether Haiti can put forward leaders that will seize the opportunity and whether these leaders will receive appropriate international support. These and related issues were addressed at the first meeting of USIP's Haiti Working Group.
