Exchange 2.0: The Science of Impact, the Imperative of Implementation

U.S. Institute of Peace President Jim Marshall welcomed Her Majesty Queen Noor Al Hussein of Jordan for the October 15 conference examining prospects for expanding the use of “Exchange 2.0”—online or “virtual” exchanges between people from different countries. The conference presented new research from Massachusetts Institute of Technology neuroscientists indicating that these relatively inexpensive exchanges can help change hostile attitudes toward others. The USIP conference aimed to encourage new thinking about U.S. international exchange strategy to keep up with the peacebuilding potential of new global communications technologies.
