(Washington) – The board of directors and staff of the United States Institute of Peace extend their sympathies to the family and friends of Ambassador Max Kampelman. A leader in nonproliferation efforts and a human rights advocate, Ambassador Kampelman made lasting contributions to peacebuilding efforts around the world. The Institute is proud to have benefited from the leadership and expertise he shared as vice chairman of the Institute's board from 1992-2001. Ambassador Kampelman was a distinguished statesman and he leaves behind a strong legacy of public service and a dedication to preventing the proliferation of nuclear weapons.
