The United States Institute of Peace has named Colette Rausch to be director of its Rule of Law Center of Innovation. Ms. Rausch has been part of USIP’s Rule of Law program for eight years.

(Washington) -- The United States Institute of Peace (USIP) has named Colette Rausch to be director of its Rule of Law Center of Innovation. Ms. Rausch has been part of USIP’s Rule of Law program for eight years.
 
Ms. Rausch has edited and authored numerous publications on the rule of law including "Combating Serious Crimes in Post-Conflict Societies" and the multivolume "Model Codes for Post-Conflict Criminal Justice." She also led the development of an innovative justice and security-focused police and civil society dialogue process, piloted in Nepal, and expanded to Iraq, Haiti and Afghanistan, fostering trust and partnership among the participants and strengthening rule of law. Ms. Rausch’s work has emphasized collaboration within the rule of law  community, across agencies and among multiple disciplines, both nationally and internationally.

"Colette Rausch brings to this position expertise in managing and developing innovative rule of law related programs and in creating valuable tools for policymakers and practitioners. Her background as both practitioner and scholar has been an invaluable asset to the USIP’s mission and rule of law work."
 
Prior to joining the Institute, Colette Rausch was director of the Rule of Law and Human Rights Department with the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe’s (OSCE) Mission in Kosovo. Other past posts have included serving as a federal public defender; overseeing the U.S. Justice Department’s justice sector training and development operations in the Balkans, as well as acting as the resident legal adviser in Bosnia. She has also served as a federal prosecutor focusing on white collar crimes, and created and directed the consumer fraud unit of the Nevada Attorney General’s Office.
