Reconstructing Lebanon: A Discussion with Sami Haddad, Lebanese Minister of Economy and Trade
A public meeting of the Lebanon Working Group
Lebanon received over $7.6 billion in aid from international donors at last month's Paris III conference to help the country recover from last summer's war and address its ruinous debt. Just as donors were meeting in Paris, clashes erupted on Lebanese university campuses, threatening a descent into all-out violence. Meanwhile, the political deadlock since the walkout of six opposition ministers from the government last November has hampered the Seniora government's ability to implement its economic reform package.
Join the Lebanese Minister of Economy and Trade Sami Haddad as he discusses the status of economic reform in Lebanon, the challenges facing the Lebanese government, and U.S. and international assistance policies and directions in Lebanon.
