The United States Institute of Peace, in collaboration with the Embassy of the Republic of Liberia in Washington, D.C., is honored to host Her Excellency Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, President of Liberia, on the occasion of her first official visit to the United States.
President Johnson Sirleaf, Africa's first female president, leads Liberia at a critical time. The elections of November 2005 capped the end of Liberia's two-year transition process, following fourteen years of civil war. President Johnson Sirleaf will present her mission and policies for the recovery of Liberia, as well as the role of the United States and the international community in Liberia's development.
After the introductory remarks by President Johnson-Sirleaf, she will respond to questions from the audience and viewers of the webcast.
