Over the last year, the Ellen Johnson Sirleaf administration began the difficult task of building peace in Liberia. Important strides have been made to reconstruct the economy, reform existing governing practices, and rebuild and transform the security sector. Yet, much remains to be done in order to consolidate peace. As Liberia celebrates one year of a successful political transition, it is important anticipate some of the challenges ahead in order ensure that Liberia's peacebuilding efforts lead to durable peace.
