The United States Institute of Peace joins the nation in mourning the passing of Congressman Stephen J. Solarz who served on USIP’s Senior Working Group on Middle East Peace.

(Washington) - The United States Institute of Peace (USIP) joins the nation in mourning the passing of Congressman Stephen J. Solarz who served on USIP’s Senior Working Group on Middle East Peace.

"Stephen was a man of enormous energy and the Institute was fortunate that he shared that intellectual energy with us," said USIP President Richard H. Solomon. The Institute extends its condolences to the Solarz family and friends.

Solarz served in the U.S. House of Representatives from 1975 to 1993 and supported the creation of USIP in 1984.  He joined USIP’s Senior Working Group in 2009.


The Senior Working Group on Middle East Peace brings together leading thinkers and practitioners to support the peace process.
