Colin O’Brien is the chief security officer at USIP, where he works to ensure that strong, common-sense security policies are in place to protect USIP staff and interests.
O’Brien brings to the role a wealth of experience in protecting American interests at home and abroad. Before joining USIP, he led international security programs at the Millennium Challenge Corporation, where he worked to safeguard U.S. investments worldwide. He also served as a regional safety and security officer for the U.S. Peace Corps, overseeing emergency preparedness and keeping Americans secure across complex global environments. Additionally, O’Brien has served as a police officer in Maryland and with the U.S. Army.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice and criminology and a master’s in business administration from the University of Maryland at College Park.
