Task Force on the United Nations Press Briefing
On June 15, 2005, the Institute hosted a press briefing on Capitol Hill marking the release of the report of the Task Force on the United Nations, "American Interests and UN Reform," which was mandated in December 2004 in legislation authored by Rep. Frank Wolf (R-VA).
Written by a 12-member bipartisan task force, chaired by former House Speaker Newt Gingrich and former Senate Majority Leader George Mitchell, the report offers an actionable agenda for Congress to strengthen the United Nations. It concludes that without a renewed and more effective United Nations, the challenges to international security, development, and well being will be all the greater.
