Peacebuilding Toolkit for Educators HS.png

Teaching peacebuilding is a process that engages students in analyzing information and thinking critically as they create their own understandings of complex concepts and develop practical skills to manage conflicts.

The Peacebuilding Toolkit for Educators was created with a range of educational environments in mind. It is designed to be flexible enough for teachers around the world to incorporate key themes – and the activities that support these themes – into their classrooms, and at the same time to meet the needs of teachers in U.S. classrooms who are often required to align their work with standards.

With this in mind, we have aligned the lessons and extension activities in the Peacebuilding Toolkit for Educators with the Common Core State Standards for English Language Arts & Literacy in History/Social Studies, Science, and Technical Subjects, grades 6-12. The following chart illustrates the standards that are met through each lesson. This document is designed to make it easier for teachers to use the Toolkit in class by allowing them to select a lesson or activity based on the standards that it meets.
