(Washington) - The U.S. Institute of Peace will welcome the Prime Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, His Excellency Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, for his first public speaking engagement with the Washington policy community since his election to a third term as prime minister in June 2013. Following the address, USIP Board Member Stephen Hadley will moderate a question and answer session with the prime minister.

The event is open to credentialed press. Pre-registration for this event is required. All credential requests for “Pakistan's Vision for Peace, Stability, and Development” must be submitted by 3:00 p.m. EDT on October 21, 2013, to Allison Sturma, interviews@usip.org, or 202-429-3869.

Date: October 22, 2013

Time: The event will run from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Doors will open at 9:00 a.m. To guarantee access, all registered media without equipment must arrive no later than 10:15 a.m. Still photographers should arrive no later than 10:00 a.m. Early arrival is recommended. Please note that these times may change.

Security requirements: To accommodate the needs of the Secret Service, extraordinary security procedures will be in place for this event, including early camera pre-set time, parking restrictions near USIP, and early door closures for all attendees.

Video photography: All video crews must arrive no later than 6:30 a.m. All crews and equipment will be screened through the vendor entrance off 23rd Street at that time. There is limited camera space at this event and confirmation of a camera space will be provided by Allison Sturma on Monday, October 21 at 12:00 noon. Additional logistical information will be shared with confirmed camera crews. Video cameras must remain fixed on a tripod for the duration of the event.

Parking: Parking is not available at the U.S. Institute of Peace for this event. Street parking on 23rd Street between E Street and Constitution Avenue will not be available. Camera crews will be able to drop off equipment at the USIP vendor entrance but will be required to park elsewhere.
