(Washington) - Sierra Leone, Senegal, Malawi and Cape Verde all have made significant progress toward promoting democratic reform. These four countries’ heads of state will share the stage at the United States Institute of Peace for an important conversation on the link between good governance and increasing prosperity in their countries and across Africa.
 
The discussion is open to credentialed press. Pre-registration for this event is required. All credential requests for “Consolidating Democratic Gains, Promoting African Prosperity” must be submitted by 4:00 p.m. EDT on March 28, 2013, to Steven Ruder, sruder@usip.org, or 202-429-3825.

Time: The discussion begins at 9:00 a.m. To guarantee access, all registered media without equipment must arrive by 8:00 a.m. There will be a window for individual interviews between 8:30 and 8:45. To schedule an interview, contact Hollyn Green, greenhj@state.gov, or Steven Ruder, sruder@usip.org

Credentialing policy: USIP media credentials are available to reporters, editors working as reporters, producers, camera operators and still photographers who work for legitimate media organizations and who present their official government-issued press credentials.  Exceptions must be approved by the Director of Public Affairs and Communications (PAC), or his/her designee. Due to the limited space for media at “Consolidating Democratic Gains, Promoting African Prosperity,” USIP reserves the right to limit the number of representatives of each media outlet attending the event.
