Lieutenant Colonel Michael P. Wagner is the United States Army war college fellow at the U.S. Institute of Peace.  He began his service as an infantry officer after graduating from the United States Military Academy in 1997. Since that time, LTC Wagner has served in airborne, air assault, and mechanized infantry units, including his most recent assignment as the commander of an airborne infantry battalion forward deployed in Europe with the 173rd Airborne Brigade. Mike has deployed to Iraq, Afghanistan, Kosovo, and Bosnia, and he has spent almost 5 years stationed in Europe. 
 
LTC Wagner earned a master’s degree focusing on international relations at the Fletcher School at Tufts University before returning to West Point to teach conflict and negotiation as well as international relations in the Department of Social Sciences. LTC Wagner also served as the army military aide to the President of the United States from 2013-2015.
