Call for Papers: Best Practices for Mediation and Facilitation in the Middle East and North Africa
The United States Institute of Peace (USIP) seeks to publish a book on Best Practices for Mediation and Facilitation in the Middle East and North Africa, drawing on the region’s decades of experience in seeking to prevent and resolve violent conflict. This publication aims to capture locally led mediation and facilitation experiences, to develop best practices by the region, from the region.
Submissions Deadline: Abstracts by April 1, 2017. Final Papers due by June 15, 2017. Please include the author’s C.V. and send to Manal Omar at momar@usip.org.
The project is part of a program supporting the Middle East and North Africa Regional Forum of Facilitators (MENA RFF), a group of conflict resolution and peacebuilding practitioners from across the region. Among its objectives, is to help develop, promote and disseminate field-tested facilitation processes to stakeholders involved in peacebuilding across the world.
The program is funded by the U.S. State Department’s Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights and Labor (DRL) and implemented by USIP.
USIP seeks proposals for papers to be included in the book from practitioners working throughout the Middle East and North Africa who can capture the successes, challenges and lessons learned from their direct experiences in using mediation, facilitation and dialogue as mechanisms to asses, manage or resolve conflict within their communities.
Submissions should include the author’s C.V. and an abstract. Abstracts should be no more than 400 words, noting the main theme and conclusions of the paper, its methodology and the fieldwork on which it is based.
