On July 11, USIP hosted a conversation with representatives of Australia, Japan, New Zealand and the Republic of Korea on such challenges and where NATO-partner relations fit in. The discussion provided insights into deepening relations with the alliance and cooperation between the Indo-Pacific and Euro-Atlantic to support security, resilience and the rules-based international order.

On November 4, USIP hosted a conversation with five of the essayists on the sources of tension in the Japan-South Korea relationship and the creative ways in which policymakers, practitioners, and experts can address topics such as forced labor, collective wartime memories, the legacy of “comfort women,” the U.S.-South Korea-Japan trilateral alliance, and regional stability.
On Wednesday, July 17, 2013 the U.S. Institute of Peace (USIP) hosted an important public diplomacy component of USIP's ongoing U.S.-South Korea-Japan Track 1.5 project called "Trilateral Dialogue in Northeast Asia" (TDNA).
