The U.S. Institute of Peace has a staffing model that supports our mission of preventing, managing and mitigating violent conflict. To that end we employ a combination of employees and contractors. We have a headquarter staff of thought leaders and experts in both themes and geographies that support U.S. national security strategies. In addition to the current staff of 262 full time employees and contractors, we employ both short term contractors and sub-contractors in targeted conflict zones around the world. Many of our contractors are based overseas and are local nationals. This approach allows us to be agile in responding to changing priorities as well as ensures the transfer of knowledge and local capacity building.

Our employees and contractors have a front row seat to the world stage. If you believe that peace is possible, peace is practical and peace is essential to U.S. and international security, check out our job listings.
