The analytical, training, and program work of the U.S. Institute of Peace, whether on the ground in conflict zones or at its Washington D.C. headquarters, is organized in five centers. Three are geographic—the Africa Center, the Asia Center, and the Middle East and North Africa Center—each focusing on efforts specific to its region. A fourth, the Center for Applied Conflict Transformation (ACT), is the hub for USIP’s thematic work and houses the Institute’s Academy as the home for its education and training expertise. Lastly, the Policy, Learning, and Strategy (PLS) Center works to extract and circulate key insights and takeaways from the Institute’s work in order to advise better peacebuilding programs, policy, and strategy.
