Research Assistant Program
USIP Research Assistants (RAs) provide support on a variety of tasks and projects. They are paid between $10-14 per hour and work an average of 20 hours per week. Applications are accepted on an ongoing basis to fill program needs. The majority of RAs are hired to work one-on-one with Jennings Randolph Senior Fellows for ten months beginning in October. Interviews begin for these and other RA positions one to two months before the anticipated start date.
IMPORTANT
Only full-time students from universities belonging to the Consortium of Universities of the Washington Metropolitan Area (CUWMA) can be considered for these openings. CUWMA members include:

Current R.A. Openings
CENTER FOR CONFLICT MANAGEMENT
Desired Qualifications: PhD or MA student focusing on Afghanistan
Duties and Responsibilities: This position will be in support of USIP’s Center for Conflict Management’s Afghanistan team, principally the Afghan Senior Fellows Program. The RA will be responsible for: (i) assisting with research on the Center's Afghanistan fellowship and research projects; and (ii) providing administrative assistance to the team staff and support in planning the Center's events. Individual research opportunities may arise during the term of employment. Administrative tasks will relate to file management, handling of travel arrangements, and various office tasks as they arise.
MIDDLE EAST INITIATIVES
Duties and Responsibilites: This position will be in support of USIP’s office of Middle East Initiatives. The RA will be responsible for assisting with research projects and providing administrative assistance to the staff and support in planning events and meetings. The RA will work closely with the Program Specialist and the Institute’s Senior Advisor for Middle East Initiatives.
