These links complement the conflict-resolution simulation exercise on the Eritrea-Ethiopia conflict for the state-level high school winners of the United States Institute of Peace National Peace Essay Contest 1999.   An extensive collection of well-annotated links compiled by Karen Fung at Stanford University for the African Studies Association. Includes links to email lists, special projects, databases and archives, articles and documents, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), news and general sources. Organized alphabetically within country listing. The web site also has regional and topical categories of links, as well as a a site searching capability.
• Eritrea Page
  Selected collection of annotated links from the Center for African Studies at the University of Pennsylvania. Includes a country map, image of the national flag, and links to official documents.
• Index on Africa: Country pages: Eritrea
  The web site for Index on Africa, a project of the Norwegian Council for Africa, contains extensive annotated links, organized by news pages, subject pages and country pages. Within each individual country page, links are organized by subject category, such as culture, politics and security and conflict. Interesting features include the number of links listed for each category, the tabulation of hits on a specific link since it was added to the Index on Africa web page, as well as the opportunity to rate the link.   Successor organization to the Organization of African Unity (OAU), the African Union's web site has news and events, documents, a listing of member states, and related web links.

United Nations

• Integrated Regional Information Network (IRIN): Eritrea
  IRIN, a unit of the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), provides a clearinghouse of information for humanitarian and international communities on the crises in sub-Saharan Africa. Its web site contains special reports, news briefs organized by country and region, such as Horn of Africa. Links to related web sites include IDPs in Eritrea from the Internal Displacement Monitoring Center. An e-mail subscription for IRIN reports is also available.
• Reliefweb: Eritrea: The latest
  Sponsored by the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, this site provides extensive current news and information on a broad range of humanitarian relief issues in Eritrea and worldwide. The web site includes maps, a archive of documents, links to related sites and a search engine. Includes a special web page for documents related to the Eritrea-Ethiopia conflict, as part of tracking complex emergencies.

  Web site of the UN organization based in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Includes links to reports, statements, news sources, a database of meetings and events on Africa, related initiatives such as the UN Special Initiative on Africa, a list of member states, ECA partners and other organizational information.
• UNHCR: Refworld
  The web site for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) database for country of origin and legal information, documents, and reports. Pull-down menus allow selection by country and/or subject and a specific search engine feature is also provided. Each country compilation includes links to country reports, legal documents, news and maps.
• United Nations Mission in Ethiopia and Eritrea (UNMEE)
  Web site of the UN peacekeeping mission describes the background and mandate of the mission, including a map, a fact sheet, news and analysis and links to related documents.

  Extensive report from the Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights, and Labor, U.S. Department of State. Also available are reports from 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, and 2005. Reports for previous years are available online from 1993.
