(Washington) -- Andrew Wilder, vice president of Asia Programs at the United States Institute of Peace will testify before the House Committee on Foreign Affairs, Subcommittee on Middle East and North Africa on Wednesday, December 2, as part of an expert panel charged with “Assessing the President’s Strategy in Afghanistan.” The hearing will be in Rayburn 2172 at 2:00 p.m.

With more than 30 years of experience in the region, Wilder’s testimony* will examine and highlight three critical areas:

  • U.S. National Security Interests in Afghanistan;
  • The Afghan government’s capacity to govern and secure the country; and
  • Peace process obstacles and opportunities.

Wilder will also make some personal recommendations focused on Afghanistan’s security, political divisions, economy and peace negotiations with the Taliban.
