Caelan McGee is currently a conflict management facilitator and trainer with USIP's Baghdad office. He designs and coordinates local and regional level reconciliation strategies and systems, working closely with the Institute's cadre of Iraqi facilitators and supporting Provincial Reconstruction Teams operating in Iraq.
Before USIP, McGee was a mediator and facilitator focusing on land use and environmental conflicts. He has helped develop and facilitate multi-party negotiations that have resulted in collaborative agreements for conflicts in transportation and land use planning, mining and mine waste, urban infill development and public health policy. He has worked on conflicts in the U.S., Mexico, and Papua New Guinea. McGee also has significant experience mediating two-party, neighbor-to-neighbor disputes. He is a certified teacher and trainer for interest based negotiation, mediation, facilitation and communication skills. Additional professional experience includes fundraising and grant proposal writing as well as teaching graduate and undergraduate university classes in environmental impact analysis, conflict resolution and environmental design and analysis.
McGee holds a B.A. in biology and an M.A. in energy and environmental analysis.
