Ambassador Jayantha Dhanapala will be joining the United States Institute of Peace (USIP) as a Jennings Randolph Senior Visiting Scholar from March 1, 2010 – June 15, 2010. During his stay at the Institute, Ambassador Dhanapala will focus on how to strengthen the nuclear non-proliferation regime and provide an assessment of the Nuclear Non Proliferation Review conference to be held at the United Nations in New York from May 3-28. The United States Institute of Peace has been named to be the official convener of the National Defense Panel, a congressionally mandated independent panel selected to review the Department of Defense's Quadrennial Defense Review (QDR). The Institute most recently served as convener of the Congressional Commission on the Strategic Posture of the United States and was one of the conveners of the Iraq Study Group.
