Philippine Facilitation ProjectUSIP Supports Concerts for Peace in PhilippinesDecember 15, 2006 As part of its effort to build public support for the peace process in Mindanao, USIP produced a video explaining the causes of the conflict between the Moro minority and the Philippine government. USIP, through the efforts of the Foundation for Communication Initiatives (FOCI), mounted a "Rock for Peace in Mindanao" concert to attract the attention of youth and the general public to the issues of ancestral domain, the Moro people, the island of Mindanao, and the peace negotiations between the government and the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF). The outdoor concert featured 13 rock bands at one of Manila's largest shopping malls. The video on ancestral domain was also shown midway through the concert. A subsequent outreach program aimed at informing Filipino youth on the issues was conducted in eight Manila schools and universities. The ancestral domain video was shown followed by an open discussion led by guest speakers engaged in the peace process. More on the peace process in Mindanao:
