Experts from the U.S. Institute of Peace co-convenved the 1st Seoul Nuclear Summit Security Group (SNS3G) workshop that is the first a series of prepatory workshops leading up to the 2012 nuclear security summit in Seoul. 

September 2010

Skip Cole, Annie Davies, and Jeff Krentel of the Academy, in partnership with Aspiration, Partners for Democratic Change, and Positive Relating, held the inaugural OSPCON1 simulation authoring event September 24-26, 2010.  The purpose of the event was to help move written USIP simulation materials into the Open Simulation Platform (OSP) to be used more broadly in Academy courses and to build and enhance the community of OSP users.

USIP's Open Simulation Platform (OSP) is continuing to make inroads with new audiences around the country as it expands and is increasingly utilized as a premier peacebuilding teaching tool. One of the main goals of this project is to provide teachers with a platform to create dynamic teaching methods for their students at any level; high school, undergraduate, graduate, or professional.

June 2010

USIP’s Open Simulation Platform (OSP) expanded into new territory in April 2010 to a George Washington University undergraduate class titled Theory and Practice of Peacebuilding. Twenty students from the class participated in a two-day Afghan reintegration simulation led by Senior Program Officer Ronald ‘Skip’ Cole and GWU Professor Tarek Maassarani.

June 2009

Ted Feifer and Mike Lekson of the Education and Training Center/ International conducted the Institute's seventh workshop on negotiation skills in multilateral diplomacy for the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) in Vienna, June 8-10, 2009.

October 2008

ETC/I Trainers Ted Feifer and Linda Bishai led a program on conflict resolution skills for Turkish emerging leaders on behalf of the State Department’s International Visitor Leadership Program, in Washington, October 27, 2008.

July 2005

USIP Professional Training Officer Nina Sughrue and former USIP Education Officer Alan Tidwell conducted a three and half day seminar for 30 participants from humanitarian NGOs, U.S. government agencies, U.S. and UK military, and international organizations involved in relief and peace operations.

April 2005

USIP Professional Training Officers Nina Sughrue and Jacki Wilson conducted a three and half day seminar for 32 participants from humanitarian NGOs, U.S. government agencies, U.S. and UK military, and international organizations involved in relief and peace operations.

September 2004

This biannual workshop brought together 33 participants from humanitarian NGOs, US government agencies, U.S. and U.K. military and international organizations all involved in relief and peace operations. USIP Professional Training Director George Ward and Professional Training Officer Nina Sughrue used exercises and simulations to help participants develop their skills in negotiation, conflict analysis, cross-cultural communication and mediation.

July 2004

The Institute held two separate workshops for 44 participants for junior and senior military personnel ranging from Third Class Petty Officers (E-4) to Navy Captains and Marine Colonels (O-6).
