Ted Feifer and Keith Bowen led a third workshop for Rwandan Defense Force officers preparing an infantry battalion for deployment with the United Nations/African Union Hybrid Mission in Darfur (UNAMID). The training was conducted in partnership with the Department of State's African Contingency Operations and Training Assistance Program (ACOTA).

Ted Feifer and Mary Hope Schwoebel led a seminar at the Defense Institute of International Legal Studies (DIILS) in Newport, Rhode Island for twenty-seven military officers and civilian government officials from seventeen countries, October 29-31, 2008.

ETC/I Trainers Ted Feifer and Linda Bishai led a program on conflict resolution skills for Turkish emerging leaders on behalf of the State Department’s International Visitor Leadership Program, in Washington, October 27, 2008.

Ted Feifer and Mary Hope Schwoebel delivered two one-day workshops on negotiations and mediation in peacekeeping operations to 150 international stability police officers at the Center of Excellence for Stability Police Units (CoESPU), in Vicenza, Italy, on October 15-16, 2008.

USIP Senior Program Officer Jacki Wilson, in partnership with Search for Common Ground and local partner The African Centre for Corporate Social Responsibility, organized a four-day capacity-building workshop in the Niger Delta town of Warri in February 2008.

In conjunction with the Naval Postgraduate School’s (NPS) Center for Stabilization and Reconstruction Studies, Institute trainers Nina Sughrue and Jonathan Morgenstein conducted our popular, biannual course, “Negotiation Skills for Post-Conflict Actors” (also knows as "Working Effectively in Post Conflict Situations: Tools for Communication, Collaboration and Negotiation") May 21-23, 2007, in Monterey, California.

April 2007

Senior Program Officers Ted Feifer and Noor Kirdar conducted a specially tailored negotiation and diplomatic skills workshop for OSCE Mission in Kosovo municipal team members in Pristina on April 18-20, 2007. There were 22 participants (12 international and 10 national staff), who currently monitor municipalities in Kosovo on good governance, democratic practices, and human rights issues.
