This workshop aimed to inform members of the Democratic Republic of Congo diaspora and other stakeholders of ongoing development assistance programs in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), provide a forum for a frank exchange of ideas and identify avenues for more effective diaspora involvement in peacebuilding.  The first panel was moderated by Raymond Gilpin, Associate Vice-President for Sustainable Economies, U.S. Institute of Peace and featured presentations from Samuel Adeniyi-Johnes, Director of the Africa Region within the Office of Global Health Affairs, Department of Health and Human Services; Mark Swayne, Interagency Liaison, U.S. Africa Command; and Dan Peters, Director of the U.S. Department of Treasury's Africa Office.
