  • USIP convenes and supports the Hamilton-Baker bipartisan assessment of Iraq. The Iraq Study Group's mandate is to conduct a forward-looking, independent assessment of the current and prospective situation on the ground in Iraq, its impact on the surrounding region, and consequences for U.S. interests. Download the influential report [PDF].
  • Working with Iraqi educators in both the U.S. and Iraq, USIP develops the “Rights of the Citizen” Curriculum (ROC). Crafted specifically for youth ages 14-18, the ROC is an 11-lesson plan that teaches the basic rights and responsibilities of citizens in a democracy, with lessons on diversity, human rights, and peaceful coexistence. The curriculum eventually reaches hundreds of students throughout Baghdad and beyond. Read the report on ROC and civic education [PDF].
  • USIP brings together Muslim scholars to discuss critical issues related to reform, conflict, peacemaking, and human rights. Papers written by this group of international Muslim scholars have been compiled into the book Crescent and Dove: Peace and Conflict Resolution in Islam, available from USIP Press. The book offers analysis on obstacles and opportunities in diverse Muslim attitudes toward and practices of peace and conflict management.
