    Successor organization to the Organization of African Unity (OAU), the African Union's web site has news and events, documents, a listing of member states (including Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone) and related web links.

United Nations

  • Integrated Regional Information Network (IRIN): Burundi
    IRIN, a unit of the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), provides a clearinghouse of information for humanitarian and international communities on the crises in sub-Saharan Africa. Its web site contains special reports and news briefs organized by country and region, such as Great Lakes and Central Africa. Includes links to related web sites and additional news reports by subject or theme. An e-mail subscription for IRIN reports is also available.
  • Reliefweb: Burundi The Latest
    ReliefWeb, a project of the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), has the latest news and "humanitarian response information on current emergencies and countries of concern" in its section on complex emergencies. This includes the countries of the Great Lakes. Also includes documents and related links organized by by country, a map center, and site map and search capability. Within country listing, related links include background information and topics such as refugees and IDPs with a link to IDPs in Burundi from the Global IDP Project on internally displaced persons.
  • United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (ECA)
    Web site of the UN organization based in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Includes links to reports, statements, news sources, a list of member states, ECA partners and other organizational information.
  • UNHCR: Country of Origin and Legal Information
    The web site for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) has databases for country of origin and legal information documents and reports.
