"The Boy Mir: 10 Years in Afghanistan" - A Special Screening
On November 10, 2011 USIP presented a special screening of filmmaker Phil Grabsky’s documentary “The Boy Mir,” which presented a different perspective on the past 10 years in Afghanistan. In 2001, Grabsky followed Mir, a young Afghan boy, as he faced displacement from his home and a changing world, depicted in “The Boy Who Plays on the Buddhas of Bamiyan.” “The Boy Mir” picks up where Grabsky left off, charting 10 years in Mir’s life. This coming of age story poses important questions on the war’s impact, and on the modern Afghanistan emerging from decades of conflict. The screening of the film was followed by a question and answer session with Phil Grabsky.
