Roundtable Meeting I

National Academies - USIP Roundtable on Technology, Science & Peacebuilding

This inaugural meeting of the Roundtable had two primary goals: 1) to review and approve the draft strategic plan  and 2) to identify the first set of activities (and actors) that the Roundtable will undertake.  Roundtable staff described how the Roundtable Strategic Plan was developed, as well as its basic elements (mechanisms for action, capability-building activities, and challenge areas). Experts from USIP and NAE also presented case studies of different peacebuilding problems to make the potential of the Roundtable more concrete.  Panelists presented examples of challenges to peacebuilding, discussing how the challenge manifests in particular conflict zones and what potential technological solutions exist.
