Iranian political banner
"February 18: The Day of Freedom for the
People. Victory. 6th Majles. We will solve the
people's problems. Unity."
This banner is by a conservative faction:
"The Followers of the Line of the Emam and the Leader."

Iranians will go to the polls on February 18 to elect 290 members of the sixth majles, or parliament. At stake is not only the composition of the majles itself, but also the speakership and the balance of reformists to conservatives in Iranian political life. In this session, leading scholars of Iran and experts who have recently traveled there will discuss the likely outcome of the elections in Iran, the nature of present-day Iranian politics, and prospects for change.

The presentations will be followed by questions from the floor.
