Vice President Garzón is the first senior Colombian official to visit Washington since the inauguration of President Juan Manuel Santos in August 2010. Garzón will discuss new directions taken under the Santos government, in such areas as social and agrarian reform, peace, human rights, and foreign policy.

The Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars, the Brookings Institution, the Inter-American Dialogue, the U.S. Institute of Peace and the Council of the Americas are pleased to invite you for a discussion about current developments in Colombia with His Excellency Angelino Garzón, Vice President of the Republic of Colombia.
Vice President Garzón is the first senior Colombian official to visit Washington since the inauguration of President Juan Manuel Santos in August 2010. Garzón will discuss new directions taken under the Santos government, in such areas as social and agrarian reform, peace, human rights, and foreign policy. He will also address pending issues on the U.S.-Colombia bilateral agenda, including the Andean Trade Preferences Act and the free trade agreement, and offer the new government’s vision for the coming year.
Vice President Garzón will make his remarks in Spanish; simultaneous interpretation will be provided.
