Five Years After the Fall of the Taliban: Afghanistan and the War on Terrorism

A public meeting of the Afghanistan Working Group

This is the third session of a four-part series leading to the fifth anniversary of the fall of the Taliban.

Afghanistan is rapidly becoming a home for terrorists once again. Non-Afghan forces are increasing in number and fueling a rise in the insurgency. Experts assert that limited time remains to address this threat to Afghanistan and the region.

  • What is the relationship of Afghanistan to the greater war on terror?
  • Where are the terrorists coming from and who is training, funding and equipping them?
  • What can be done to change the situation?
