Beyond Secretary Clinton’s Asia Trip: First Glimpses of the Obama Administration’s New Asia Policy
During Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s Asia Society speech on February 13th and her recent official Asia trip, she created a tremendous amount of goodwill in the countries visited. Now comes the tough part. As the new State Department Asia team settles in, how can Secretary Clinton and the Obama administration translate the goodwill into policy? Drawing on government experience and policy expertise, our speakers discuss the priority issues and preferred approaches that will characterize the Obama administration’s policy towards North Korea, South Korea, China, and Japan.
