Often, people think of truth as coming after a conflict, as in a truth and reconciliation commission. But can truth help lessen an ongoing conflict by keeping or bringing together neighborhoods and communities? What does it mean to seek truth during conflict?

Using Colombia as a model, a panel of experts will analyze whether and how finding and sharing truths can impact societies in conflict. Our panel brings together one academic and two religious leaders who play large civic roles in Colombia.

Speakers

  • Mauricio Garcia-Durán, S.J.
Director, CINEP (Jesuit Research and Popular Education Center)
  • Mons. Hector Fabio Henao
Director, National Office of Social Ministry (Pastoral Social), Colombian Conference of Catholic Bishops
  • Dr. Virginia Bouvier, Moderator
Senior Program Officer, U.S. Institute of Peace
