Trauma affects the mind, body, and spirit of individuals, families, communities, and nations. Unhealed trauma contributes to the cycle of violence in communities as well as among nations. Practitioners working in conflict zones therefore require a high degree of trauma awareness, a "trauma lens," to work effectively in these challenging environments.

Participants will learn how the brain reacts to a traumatic event and how these reactions manifest themselves in the body and in human behavior. They will also learn to recognize the various micro- and macro-levels of trauma.

Finally, they will learn strategies and tools to more effectively work with these populations.
