2005 Awards Week in D.C. Daily Slide Shows

Sunday, June 19, 2005Day 2 Students are welcomed by Institute staff and participate in a simulation on Turkey and the European Union.
Monday, June 20, 2005Day 3 Students met with Douglas Silliman, Deputy Director, Southern European Affairs, Daniel Chirot, Senior Fellow, United States Institute of Peace, Andrew Finkel, Reagan-Fascell Democracy Fellow, National Endowment for Democracy, Esther Brimmer, Deputy Director and Director of Research Center for Transatlantic Relations, and Institute President Richard Solomon.
Tuesday, June 21, 2005Day 4 Students discuss American foreign policy with Norman Ornstein, visit the Islamic Center, and continue with the simulation.
Wednesday, June 22, 2005Day 5 Students visit Capitol Hill and meet the co-chairs of the UN Task Force, Newt Gingrich, former Speaker of the House of Representatives, and George Mitchell, former majority leader of the Senate.
Wednesday, June 22, 2005 - ContinuedDay 5 - continued Students attend the NPEC banquet at the Turkish embassy where they met Dr. Osman Faruk Logoglu, the Turkish Ambassador to the U.S., listened to Morton Halperin, Director of U.S. Advocacy, Open Society Institute, and received their certificates for completing the award program.
