Each year students who come to the Washington, DC National Peace Essay Contest Awards Program participate in an exercise simulating key themes from the year's essay question. This year students will assume the roles of international and local actors participating in a donor conference to determine the priorities for the post-conflict reconstruction process in Sudan.

Students, while playing the role of Sudanese and members of the international community, will consider what issues in the conflict need to be resolved in order for a peace agreement to be implemented and will set priorities for the political, economic and social reconstruction of Sudan.

Internet links for electronic resources that will enhance students' knowledge of the conflict in Sudan are available at:

www.usip.org/library/regions/sudan.html

Deadline is February 2, 2005
